Apart from the health goals, we all are having personal and professional life obstacles which gives hard time to get over with undue stress and anxiety build up.

Lets go scientific about stress and hair loss!!

What exactly stress do to human body that hair feel insecure on the scalp?

Our body is constantly challenged by a diversity of environmental, psychological and social stimuli or stressors. Which induce general or local biological responses to protect or adapt the body to the stressors. The systemic biological response of the organism to these stressors (or classical stress response) includes activation of the certain type of hormones. This adaptation primarily targets hair follicles along with other skin cells and modulate or affect their functions, depending on circumstance.

In addition to above explanation, enhanced fibrosis and calcification are two other things which happens in body due to stress and unhealthy life styles. When this happens skin over scalp reflects more thick, tight and shinier which reduce the blood flow. And less blood flow to hair follicles means their slow death.

Hair loss due to stress and unhealthy life style

In nutshell, when body adapts to the stress and it effects the health of hair follicle leads to hair fall which further induce the psycho-social stress.

Telogen effluvium is major type of hair loss which occurs due to constant stress.

In telogen effluvium, significant stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase. Within a few months, affected hairs might fall out suddenly when simply combing or washing your hair.

Now days many treatments are there in market which claim to be 100% effective but I didn’t see any proving the same. So, prevention is better than cure! consider doing everything (only legal activities) which reduce your stress and makes you feel relax.

Definitely, many options are there which you would like to opt for your self to manage the stress.

  1. If your hair loss is caused by stress, it’s possible for your hair to grow back in time. The rate of regrowth will be different for everyone.

Human hair growth occurs in a cycle of four phases.

The average human scalp has about 100,000 hair follicles. At any given time, each of your hair follicles is in a different phase of this cycle:

    1. Anagen phase. This is the growing phase of hair. It lasts two to seven years
    2. catagenphase. This is a short, two-week phase that occurs when the hair follicle begins to shrink.
    3. Telogen phase. This is a three-month resting phase.
    4. Exogen phase. This phase occurs when the follicle sheds the hair and begins new growth.
If your hair loss has been triggered by stress, managing your stress could be the key to returning to a healthy rate of hair growth.
